Summer Parent Sessions 2023

Parents can sometimes feel as thought they don't understand their pre-teens or teenagers. Rabbits RSE Summer sessions aim to close the gap between adults and young people when it comes to relationships and sex. Each session is 30 minutes long, delivered by Laura live on zoom. The topics have been chosen carefully based on conversations with young people, school staff, and parents throughout this year. Each session is stand alone, there is no obligation to attend them all. At the end of every session there will be opportunity to ask questions and give feedback. More information about each session can be found below. Session 1 - Social Media

With the first of this summer's sessions I want to ease us into the world of teenagers & pre-teens - social media! Whcih apps are popular? Whata re their unique selling points?
How can we be ore aware of how our young people are using social media?

Tuesday 1st August 7.00pm

Folllowing on from looking at social media in session 1 we delve deeper into how to keep young people safe online. How do we ensure they aren't talking to strangers, or using the internet in a negative way?

Tuesday 8th August 7.00pm

Continuing our look into the online world our young people are exposed to we will discuss porngraphy - how it pertains to children, laws surrounding it, and revenge porn.

Session 4 - Having "The Talk"

Tuesday 15th August 7.00pm

How do we know when is the right time to talk to young people about sex, and how do we have that conversation? Learn how to walk the fine line between education and encouragement.

Tuesday 22nd August 7.00pm

Contraception - when is the best time to broach this conversation with your young person? What contaceptives are available to young people & how to access them

We will finish our summer series with the ever important topic of consent. Looking at how we can include and model consent in our every day lives, so that when our young people enter the world of se they already have an understanding of what it means.
